How do Direct Marketing & Catalogs really work?

At MZInc. we strongly believe that Direct marketing is a vital part of the promotional mix. It is a great tool for generating a response and/or a transaction directly with target customers.

Direct marketing is much, much more than direct mail and mail-order catalogs. It is a variety of activities, including direct sales, telemarketing, and direct-response ads through direct mailings, and broadcast and print media. Some companies and manufacturers rely on independent contractors and sales agents to sell their products directly to retailers (or to consumers directly). With the internet, Direct Marketing (DM) has increasing become E-commerce.

Companies that distribute their products through traditional distribution channels, or by using their own sales force, also use DM tools and techniques. Direct marketing plays a big role in the integrated marketing communication programs of consumer products companies and business-to-business marketers. These companies spend billions of dollars annually calling customers directly and trying to sell them products and services, or qualifying them as sales leads. Marketers send out direct mail ranging from simple letters and fliers to detailed brochures and videotapes, in order to give potential customers information about their products or services. Direct-marketing techniques are used to distribute product samples or target users of a competing brand of a product or service.
