In post September 11th New York, the idea of beauty needs to be revolutionized. It cannot be constricted to what glitzy magazines dictate. It needs to take on substance, be solid, and real. Women can no longer look pretty for other people’s sake. They need to represent themselves, or be represented by others more accurately than before. No more flimsy stereotypes.
Yet to go into somebody’s life—unconditionally, without knowing what is going to happen, what may come out, entails a certain amount of risk and guts.

When women dream, they take on wings, and fly free from their overdone stereotypes. Vibrant personalities bloom. They take on moods and become colorful… multi-dimensional. Reto’s photo book captures the subtle, sensual nuances of femininity, which is strung together by a narrative that reveals the erotic dreamscape of women.
Frame by frame, Reto serenades women with a quiet respect. He does not attempt to mold them into shapes, instead he lets them breathe life into his pictures. The artist says "The market demands a certain kind of woman—I just want them to be however they want to be". There is no sense of misogyny in this picture book, only that of a man so charmed by what he sees he decides to capture it exactly the way it is.
