MZInc Delivers Dynamic Design and Clear Layout for a Volume of the Spaces of Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior and More Challenge The Visual Reference Library needed their coffee table volume, Storefronts and Facades 5, to be designed and produced in a manner that promoted their credibility as the industry authority in chronicling the best in interior design, architecture, visual merchandising, and lighting and fixtures. The volume included the architectural and design masterpieces of such prestigious fashion establishments as Gucci, Giorgio Armani, and Christian Dior.
MZInc was retained to design and produce a volume that radiated style, while at the same time being a lucid and easy to use reference volume for industry professionals. A project of international scope, the volume depicted shops from Warsaw to Santiago, Dussseldorf to Buenos Aires, Paris to London.
Solution and Result The project consisted of some 240 pages with over 350 four-color photographs arranged according to architectural and design elements: classical foundation, contemporary design, arts & cabin crafted, color-light & materials, and decorative & dimensional treatment. The success of this project derived from the subtle and natural way the gorgeous photography was interwoven with the editorial copy.
In addition, the different architectural styles each required a specific photographic treatment to bring out their unique design elements. For example, for the Forum Shops in Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, a panoramic two-page spread was used in order to be certain that the architects’ original vision was communicated in vivid detail. The result is a beautifully executed hard cover volume that is an impressive addition to either an industry library or architecture lover’s home.
